How to Help a Teen to Quiet the Noise this Christmas.
1 in every 4 teenagers in the UK are struggling with their mental health — and the waiting lists for support just keep getting longer.
Their world is too noisy.
Pressure piles on them academically. The world at large feels uncertain. Hormones are shifting, emotions are intense, and the constant notifications and social comparisons from social media keep their minds busy, buzzing, and worried.
What young people desperately need is a quiet space — a place to find their own voice, reflect, question, process, and connect with real support.

That’s exactly what The Children’s Society is creating through projects like the wonderful Space to Grow support hub in Nottingham. They takes emotional wellbeing resources, workshops and sessions to young people who do not traditionally access therapy. Their focus is on early intervention to prevent young people reaching crisis points through robust emotional education and support.
Yesterday I helped them launch their fabulous Christmas campaign to raise funds to support their work. Their campaign is called Quiet the Noise and looks at what teens really need this Christmas, less pressure, more support, and time to breathe.
Therapy shouldn’t be only for those whose parents can afford it, or just for teens already in crisis — it should be accessible to all, and designed to prevent crisis before it happens.
So, if you give a young person one amazing present this year — please make it your presence, your time and a willingness to deeply listen.
And if you can, please donate just £5 to The Children’s Society to help more teens find the quiet they need, and deserve. 💛
