Are you wondering how best to support a teen’s results day worries?
If your teen is starting to worry about their A levels or GCSE results, here are 3 thing you can do right now to support them.
– Take time to listen their worries, don’t minimise them. Their results DO matter to them, they have worked for these exams over a number of years and they will determine their next step in life. It is only natural that they care deeply and are apprehensive about their results.
– Have a plan for results day … work out together with your teen what to do if they don’t get the results they want (colleges and clearing contact details at the ready! ) and what to do if they do get the results they want!
How do they want to celebrate all that effort?
And is someone around to support them if things don’t go their way, or cheer them on if they do?
– Try and encourage them to keep busy.
Results day will come along anyway and hours spent worrying will not change the outcome. A walk in the woods, baking sessions, movie nights can be great distractions that can get them out of a slump of worry (and their room) and help them reconnect with you and the nicer things in life.
